In this multi-media presentation, Jennifer will show how she has used doubleweave pick-up as a medium for her geometric designs and color harmonies. She will explain the basic principles of the golden proportion, symmetry movements and tesselations, and show how she has used them in her work. The program will culminate with an animated video of her weavings dancing to the music of Bach. 3 Day Workshop: Doubleweave - Beyond the Basics |

Doshi - The Use of Shibori in Her Art Doshi creates exquisite hand dyed clothing in original designs that range from contemporary to traditional. Shibori, an ancient Japanese textile dyeing process, is the method she uses for her artistic expression. The technique uses knotting, pleating, rolling, pressing, or sewing during the dyeing process. The resulting designs are the memories of the method used to resist the dye. She will explain how she incorporates these design techniques in her work. |

Rosemarie Dion - Coverlets Coverlets are probably the quintessential handwoven item, especially when viewing weaving from a historical perspective. Rosemarie and Taryl Andersen have started a study group of members interested in delving more deeply into the weave structures and techniques used to create handwoven coverlets. They will present an overview of coverlets and an idea of the territory the study group will explore, and will also present the slide show on coverlets from the HGA library. Please bring your own examples to share - whether woven by you or not. |

Mary
Ann Slawinski - History of the Guild Mary Ann gave a program for the Evening Guild last year on the History of SDCWG. We heard lots of comments from those who heard her program that it was very interesting and informative, and a very enjoyable presentation, so we asked her to share it with the Day Meeting. Part of knowing where we are going is knowing where we've been, so be sure not to miss this look back at what made the guild what it is today. |

Installation of Officers, Potluck & Showcase of Guild Members' Talents Outside of Textiles In December, we'll have our traditional potluck and the installation of officers for 2008. Instead of a formal program, we'll have a giant show & share. We know that many of our members have creative outlets outside of textiles - bring your creations to show and perhaps even demonstrate. You might be just the spark to get someone else's creative juices flowing. Don't forget to bring a dish to share for the potluck. |
